Single from the EP, The Christmas EP

Backstory

I moved to the Caribbean island of Barbados in October 2020 for a year-long work-from-home stay. I wanted to write a song about Christmas “pon de” island soon after arriving, but figured for authenticity it would probably be best to wait until I had actually experienced Christmas here to write a song about Christmas here.

However, because of the pandemic — and the consequential shutdowns and lockdowns — there wasn’t much of a socially culture holiday vibe or energy here.

So instead I referenced my quite genuine positive feelings for being in this near paradisiacal oasis, and applied it to what an ideal romantic relationship would feel like.

This song, though probably being remastered before making it onto the album (having already been remastered since its debut on many music streaming services), is the editorial outcome of those heart-beating ruminations.
